Welcome! We are so glad you are here!
Glacier Hills Elementary School of Arts & Science (GHESAS) is an award-winning top magnet school in School District 196 with high expectations, innovative programming, and a caring staff. Glacier Hills is a diverse community school located in Eagan, Minnesota. Embedding arts and science into our instruction provides students rich learning opportunities to explore, create and wonder about the world around them.
Glacier Hills is dedicated to strong instructional programming for all students and work alongside our many community partnerships. Our specialized teaching staff work collaboratively with classroom teachers and families to meet the diverse needs of our students. Students have access to support services including supplemental small group intervention during our WIN (What I Need) time as well as English Language Development, Talent Development and Special Education services. We have a full time social worker dedicated to working with all students and staff on developing social emotional learning skills and assisting families with a variety of resources including Every Meal.
At Glacier Hills, students engage in daily specialist classes weekly including physical education, cultural/traditional art, multi-media art, library, and music. We offer an optional strings program for students in grades 3-5 and opportunities to perform as an orchestra led by our strings instructor. Students can join DaCapo Choir in grades 3-5 led by our music specialist. All grade 5 students are offered to learn a band instrument as part of our Band for All program led by our band instructor. Our science specialist works in partnership with our teachers using the design thinking process and our curriculum to solve problems using hands on learning experiences in our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) Lab. Technology integration is part of our instruction. All students will use iPads and educational apps to deepen and enhance their learning.
The support of our active PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) helps our school to achieve its goals in effort to fund field trip experiences, residencies and instructional resources including the building of a new outdoor classroom coming fall, 2025! We'd invite you to come learn more about our programming by scheduling a school visit. We are very proud of our school community where all are welcome!
